Inspired by the iconic hot chicken sandwiches of Nashville, Max wanted to put a sweeter, healthier spin on the classic dish. Using the Masterbuilt Gravity Series 800, he infused the chicken with a perfect balance of smoky sweetness. Paired with the tangy kick of vinegar slaw and pickles, this recipe delivers a flavorful bite that hits all the right notes.
Instructions
-
01
Preheat grill to 500°F or high heat.
-
02
Cut your chicken breast into two even pieces.
-
03
Mix together the barbecue sauce and honey in a bowl.
-
04
Place the chicken pieces on the grill, and after about 10 minutes, once they have nice grill marks, flip them over and brush with honey BBQ sauce. Cook for another 10 minutes, then flip and sauce the other side.
-
05
Remove the chicken when it registers an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
-
06
Toast your buns on the grill for just a couple minutes to achieve a light brown crispness.
-
07
While the chicken rests, prepare your slaw by combining the shredded cabbage, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, salt, and sugar.
-
08
Assemble the sandwiches with some slaw on the bottom bun, followed by a few pickle chips, a piece of chicken, some extra sauce, and the top bun.
